Promotion of Early Entry into Prenatal Care
“Presumptive Eligibility” A statewide program providing:
- All women living in the State of California
have the opportunity to obtain pregnancy
testing and prenatal care regardless of
their residency and/or socio-economic
status.
- Any pregnant woman is presumed
Medi-Cal eligible upon positive pregnancy test.
- Prenatal care should begin in the first three months.
Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program
A statewide program designed to provide for
the pregnant woman’s perinatal medical, educational, nutritional and psychosocial needs for the delivery of a healthy baby into a healthy family. The Perinatal Services Coordinator conducts provider enrollment and continuing support in an enhanced prenatal care program that assures that the client receives appropriate and comprehensive health education, nutrition consultation and psychosocial assessment during and immediately following pregnancy. Clients are referred to registered dieticians and licensed clinical social workers as needed.
